This month we thought we would share with you a slightly different way of caring for your hair, with some expert nutritional advice from our trainee Trichologist, Jo.
NUTRITIONAL MUST DO’S THIS AUTUMN!
Breakfast is the most important meal for your body and your hair.
Energy to form your hair cells are lowest in the morning, so eggs are the perfect protein to add alongside avocado, brown bread and veggies to give your hair an nutritional morning boost.
Did your know… Just like your skin, your hair and scalp can become dehydrated too.
“We should all aim to drink approx 1-1.5 litres of water daily” advises Jo. “And if your a frequent exerciser then more!”
Eat foods in season!
“Eating foods that are in season is so important for a varied diet”.
Jo’s autumn favourites are:
Butternut squash – high in fibre and vitamin B6.
Courgette – high in antioxidants like Vitamin C and Vitamin A.
Runner beans – a good source of calcium and iron.
We all love to snack… don’t we? Here’s the perfect reason too!
The energy to form hair-cells drops every 4 hours after eating. Snacking on foods such as nuts, dried apricots, vegetables and fruit will sustain energy levels to your hair follicles.
The part we don’t want to hear… but know it’s right! “Stay away from sugary and processed foods. These will not give your hair the energy and vitamins it needs to grow and be healthy” warns Jo.
