Party Ponytails At G&M

The ponytail is one of those styles that never gets old, because there are a million ways to wear it! What’s more, when it comes to party season, the pony is the most versatile option ever – here are our four favourite ways to wear it. If you can’t manage it at home, book into the salon and we’ll do it for you!

High volume
We love this sophisticated, slightly retro ponytail on Reese Witherspoon. Rather than just sticking on a fake ponytail, her stylist has done the groundwork, prepping the hair so it’s voluminous and long-lasting. If you fancy this look, ask your stylist about our R+Co Dallas Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner – they’re perfect for adding that much-needed oomph!

As with all hair trends, they start on the catwalk, and this season’s ponytail is all about tying it up. Whether it’s sleek and simple or messed up and tousled, applying multiple thin elastics turns your ponytail into a real work of art!

Sexy glam
No-one does a relaxed, tousled ponytail better than Jennifer Lopez. Here she wears a girl-next-door bouncy pony that’s dressed up with a choppy fringe. The fringe softens the look and also frames the face, so it’s an ultra-flattering style for most face shapes. To make the most of this look, use texture powders and salt sprays.

This look isn’t just for Christmas; you’ll be seeing sporty, slick ponytails all over the place come Spring . It might look simple, but this style still needs some prep work; before you cinch all the hair into a single hairband you’ll need to give it a killer blowdry and perhaps a styling iron session to ensure super straight results. For staying power you can use a styling gel or if you prefer to keep things light, opt for a flexible fixing spray.

Small Business Saturday

Spearheading Amersham’s Small Business Saturday event in style, the ‘Amersham Showcase’, the elegant Gatsby & Miller salon brought added glitz and glamour to this annual event that highlights small business success.

Salon director John Roads is one of the town’s leading supporters of the campaign and on Saturday, December 3 he and his team helped make sure the town was glowing with excitement and colour.

This year’s theme, designed by the Amersham Action Group, was a Festival of Lights and it was a tremendous success thanks to the support of small businesses all over the Buckinghamshire town and John’s enormous enthusiasm. He dedicates time each month to help create spectacular events in Amersham to encourage shoppers to return to the high street and create a buzz for the local community.

Small Business Saturday itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but this lively national campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses of all kinds and boost the local economy.

Popular television personality Russell Grant had the honour of switching on the lights for the festival and the proceedings were opened by Amersham mayor Mark Vivas. In his welcome the mayor paid tribute to Gatsby & Miller as a ‘true success story of the town’, going on to thank the salon for its dedication and for sponsoring the Christmas Grotto.

All the salon team added to the festive atmosphere by turning out in seasonal attire and there was a selection of Christmas treats for everyone who called in.

“Small Business Saturday is very important to us, as it should be for the hundreds of salons across the country,” said John Roads. “Every year we put our power behind the cause to help tempt shoppers back to the high street, for the good of all.”
