Gatsby & Miller Day

Gatsby & Miller certainly know how to put on the style and they demonstrated all their passion and enthusiasm at the spectacular team day held at the Wella World Studio in central London on Tuesday, January 12.

This unique celebration brought together the talented team from our salon in Amersham for a day of invaluable learning about a whole range of industry know-hows, capped off with the much-anticipated 2016 Gatsby & Miller awards.

Totally designed around the team, the action-packed event got off to a flying start with a very warm welcome for everyone from salon managing director John Roads and then it was over to salon director Julie Church who introduced the guest artist for the day, Jayson Gray, founder of KARBON Magazine and Wella Professional Guest Artist.

It was non-stop buzz all the way for the Gatsby & Miller team as they worked alongside the expert in the workshops on the mezzanine floor, a hive of activity brimming over with creativity and the very latest advanced techniques.

The team then had all the excitement of presenting their own finished models’ looks on stage and it was a privilege for them to look and learn, and to work alongside, such an all-round and creative professional as Jayson. They certainly rose to the challenge and their results with the models were superb.

The grand finale, of course, was the presentation of the 2016 team awards, voted for by clients at Gatsby & Miller salon. Voting took place via website poll allowing clients to offer their personal feedback and comments too.

The winners were:

Best Colourist Award Lauren Roads
Best Retailer Award Kat McEwan
Customer Care Award Gianlucca Sessa
Best Assistant Award Hannah Green.

The hotly-contested Gatsby & Miller 2016 Award was won by Jo Siberini-Wilkins from our Amersham salon.

“I had a fantastic day which was topped off by winning the Gatsby & Miller award,” said Jo. “I’m proud to have won this award and grateful for all of John and Julie’s support and recognition of my work.”

“What a day – it’s been incredible,” said John. “Jason’s demo work was a true treat and the whole event has been an inspirational and exciting occasion – we’re enormously proud of our team and they deserve to be given a day to enjoy and remember.”

Winter Hair Blues?

PK tips_964px

The winter blues are here? Fight them off says Jo Siberini-Wilkins at Gatsby & Miller.
‘Winter can be harsh on your hair and scalp. While we can’t change the freezing cold weather we have a few tips to help restore life to your traumatised tresses using the Philip Kingsley brand’.

Tip 1:
To combat dandruff and itching use the Flaky/Itchy 3 step regime. First use the Exfoliating Scalp Mask to remove dead skin and counteract build-up of flakes, next use Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo to clear and soothe your scalp, to finish apply Flaky/Itchy Scalp Toner to provide long lasting relief from irritation.

Tip 2:
Constant changed in humidity from the cold outdoors to central heating make your hair liable to frizz. Use Weatherproof Styling Froth and Hairspray to add volume hold and shine whilst the antic-static and anti-frizz formula keep your hair protected and frizz free.

Tip 3:
Using a pre shampoo treatment such as Elasticizer during the colder months will help keep your hair full of elasticity, bounce and shine. Regular use will help to progressively strengthen hair, reduce breakage and leave hair healthier, lustrous and manageable.

Tip 4:
Eat a well-balanced diet! Start your day of right with some eggs; these are the perfect protein to give your hair energy to grow. Remember to keep well hydrated and snack on healthy complex carbohydrates such as whole meal crackers, fresh fruits or dried apricots.
